I thought this might be an interesting experiment topic, or even brainstorming topic.
I don't know if anyone has read Wikinomics - How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything, but it's quite a nice book about web 2.0 and how it changes the world we live in.
So I think everyone kindof gets the picture. The last 2 examples are the closest to what I mean. People ACTUALLY WORKING together around the world towards a common goal.
So what do I propose? That we all try to come up with different 'projects' for which this method could work. Solving the environmental issue? Helping to find missing persons? Let the ideas come!
neat stuff in the gold prospecting article 'says McEwen. "When I saw the computer graphics, I almost fell out of my chair." '
i would love to see collaboration in everyday life. the whole government and civic administration should go web based, open, cert backed identities (not about anonymous but about usability - if you don't like being not anonymous just read and don't contribute)
why? well everything from over charged tenders to the more small but important design issues: 1. like they removed the traffic signal near my house but there is no subway yet for pedestrians so you need to literally play froggie on a 100 meter wide main road that leads up to the airport ....
or the way they raised foot paths so bikers would not use them when traffic is thick - but now most pedestrians don't use them either - especially the old cause some are a foot tall - big step.
A better design would have left two smaller steps that curves in - can be used on foot but not by motor bikes.
and there are so many more.
more than SETI i like folding and the world community grid cause your not actively working but your computer is - on stuff from cancer to growing better rice to 'Clean Energy' etc
of course if SETI comes up with something then it would be the best thing ever. but i lean on the idea that alien intelligent life will find us eventually (and not the other way around) or maybe reveal themselves to us ...

Silly person
I left the comment so we can read the boring, yet cleverly disguised 'participation'.
