Drinking Your Way to Health? Perhaps Not
Drinking Your Way to Health? Perhaps Not
Just about every month -- if not every week -- a new study emerges touting the health benefits to be gained from a daily glass of wine or a pint of dark beer. picked by blindworld 1 month ago

It would be nice to see those two risks quantified. That is, how much does your risk of heart disease decrease and how much does your risk of cancer increase from a single drink a day?

If your risk of heart disease drops 50% while your risk of cancer increases 1%, then it's a pretty simple decision to make. Not knowing the numbers, however, makes it difficult to evaluate the recommendations in this article.

That and the fact that a life without alcohol might not be one worth extending another ten or twenty years.

I can't live my life avoiding things I love because one study or another said it was good or bad for me.

I KNOW that there are positives and negatives in almost everything I eat or drink.

But I've got to live my life.

The point of the article is not to say that the studies were wrong, just possibly misleading. Those who drink 5oz of wine a night WILL get a benefit, but those who drink that same 5oz of grape juice get the same benefit without liver damage or increased risk of a host of other problems.

It's like Paul Harvey's "Rest of the Story" and it fills in some information which the other studies may have left out.

All information is good. Very nice find Blindworld.
