The Armstrong family is managing a rare disease, which makes it impossible for their 6-year-old son to eat anything but a handful of foods. The list of foods he CAN eat includes venison, oats, sugar, and salt.

Gout, anyone?

It seems to me that these hyper-allergic people are becoming more common. It's scary, because to me it indicates a very serious flaw in the genome. I'm NOT advocating letting this kid die, but think about it...In the not too distant past, if you reacted violently to most anything you ate, you didn't reproduce, so the genetic combination that creates this condition isn't passed on.

I suspect it's both. I think there's a big genetic component that is being activated by a variety of environmental conditions. The number of infertility cases is increasing as well, and I think that can be attributed to an innate response to crowding, as is seen in most other mammals.

Well, most of what he is eating is natural, not imbedded with hormones, genetically altered, etc...

If only we could go back to that, I think alot of medical problems could be averted.
